How a slow, sensory wake-up reminded my cells of the intelligent inter-webs of the natural world.
Waking Before the World
Some wake-ups feel like the mist of a cozy iridescent heaven is transporting you through silky dreamscape, gently delivers you back into your body and rocks you awake with purring love so softly.
You wake in an invisible cloud of safety. Like some ethereal benevolent being is shining their sun and kindness on your cells.
This morning I got to wake up like that. In a cloud of cozy, not yet remembering who Meghan is but simultaneously feeling more of who I am.
The water on my face felt silky, my animals were still nestled in their bed, and the rain was drizzling like a lullaby. I opened the kitchen window because I like to say hi to the jungle and get acquainted with the scents + songs of the morning that are willing to chat with me.
Deep, musty, rich rain-drenched mulch soil smells spoke and soaked my brain with a deep comfort that has to be an ancient ancestral olfactory imprint.
The Ancient Imprint of the Soil
I concoct coffee and sit on the tiny window sill perched like Abu.
The sun comes up and says hi, managing to be seen through a tiny window in the weighty grey rainclouds and dripping jungle leaves. I sip and devour the scents of nature like I can’t get them in deep enough inside.
My body automatically tries to transport the earth’s magic deeper into my lungs by breathing the kind of breaths that pulse when crying deeply. But I’m not sad.
A thought message comes in that there will be a rainbow today. My mind remembers that trees can talk, and I ask them to say hi and I love you to the amazon, hoping they’ll get the message.
A thought comes, how can we ever think magic is not real, as I absorb the synchronistic sunbeam shining directly through the tiny gap and revel in the birdsongs, earth scents, rain drops – a composition that has been telling everyone forever of it’s magic and healing – but other soundwaves are louder and interfere.
Nature Remembers
Abu sits and watches me, looking warmly content cause this is his spot. Animals get it. A Kingfisher swoops over my head and down into the thick weaving of jungle maze in front of me. He lets me see him, and my whole body says thank you so much.
The clouds blend over the sun, and the grey of the sky evens out. I check to see if the orb spider came back to build its web and I discover two new webs, not built of the same intricacy and symmetry, but likely intentionally done so.
They used the strong silver-silk structural beams of the orb spider. I’m going to make sure their webs don’t get walked through. Maybe the orb will come back.

Protecting the In-Between Space
I feel so lucky to have been woken up in all these ways and to have been transported to see so many beautiful-magical wake-up surprises.
I note the fluctuations of my brain waves. They are soothed by nature’s salve-symphonies. And I notice a trying distortion of turbulent programs attempting to weasel in that look like fractured modified weather, in comparison to the symmetrical patterns + waves nature communicates to my body.
I remind myself I don’t need to immediately go there, that it’s ok to keep my morning moments protected from the thought-scapes of to-dos and urgent didn’t dos yet.
The Molecules of Analogue Genius
My body brain craves to stay just here, suspended in the molecules of analogue genius.
Innocent and in awe and wonder of each discovery nature shares so generously. I’m still dreaming, in the in-between space, the child mind that still remembers the magical inter-webs of all of nature, and knows how to commune with them through the simplest and most sacred possible ingredient we possess- presence.
The innate feeling of belonging, not to a group but to the beauty of the natural world through every breath.
Waiting on the rainbow – I think it’s coming soon.
I love you,
Meghan xx
