Take It as It Comes

The Best Advice I Ever Received

Take it as it comes.

The best piece of advice I ever got is also the simplest. And that advice is: take it as it comes. That’s it. Take it all as it comes. And I got it in a moment in my life when I was freaking out. Second guessing everything, my choices, my path, my whole self. I was traveling overseas for the first time in my late 20s, and doubt had crept in like an uninvited guest. So I called a wise friend of mine, this salt of the earth kind of guy. Someone who carries the weight of life with an easy kind of grace.
He said just take it as it comes. You gotta take it all as it comes. And it landed. Like an anchor. Like a quiet truth I had always known but had somehow forgotten. Because that’s really all we can do—take it as it comes.

We Are Different Human Recipes

We are stitched together from different threads, woven with experiences that shift and stir like the ocean tide. Each day, we wake up a new concoction, a unique blend of thoughts, feelings, and energies. Some days, we spill over—open, expressive, effervescent—and other days, we fold inward—quiet, still, reflective. There isn’t necessarily a common “right” amount of vulnerability or expression that makes someone a fully expressed human.

But sometimes, the world tells us otherwise. Social pressures whisper that we should be more… more open, more outgoing, more seen. And in that push, expression can become something we do out of obligation rather than something that flows from the raw, honest urge to connect.

Let the Phases Shape You

Even in our silent, cocooned moments, there is movement. In our dark, introverted cavernous moments there is so much brewing under the surface that will inevitably come out as some kind of discovery when the time is right. Beneath the stillness, something is always shifting and preparing to emerge. So take any pressure off. Whatever phase or cycle you’re in—let it be. Let them have their moment to sculpt you anew. Let it shape you without force, without resistance.

The Practice of Presence

The minute I get ahead of the present moment, fear takes hold. The future stretches out like an uncertain horizon, and my mind chases after it, trying to fill in the blanks. But when I come back to now, when I take things as they come, I feel anchored, grounded, trusting. Trusting that life is unfolding as it should. Trusting that each moment is a gift, handed to me with unseen wisdom. It’s an inspiring way to live. It’s not about perfecting this practice; it’s about returning to it, over and over again.

And when I do, I remember: Each moment is like a gift that I’m being gifted. I am lucky to be here. Lucky to receive. Lucky to witness it all as it comes.

The Beauty of Not Knowing

We are taught to seek certainty, to map out our futures and secure the safest path. But life isn’t something to be tamed or perfectly planned—it is something to be experienced. The unknown isn’t an enemy; it is an open door, a space where possibilities unfold in ways we never expected. When we release our grip on needing to know, we allow life to surprise us. We step into a rhythm of trust, knowing that even when the path feels unclear, it is still leading us somewhere we are meant to be.

And that, in itself, is magic.

With so so much love and appreciation,
Meghan
