Turning the Lights Back On

Why we need to go offline to tune back into the full current of life.

The Squeeze

When I practice I squeeze the shit out of myself.

Literally not literally –  squeezing all muscles like a firm yet breathable warm bear hug, evenly throughout the body, to create an overall buoyancy that is born from working through the areas of the body-mind that have gone offline.

The offline areas often require a more hefty charge. Like a car battery boost with jumper cables.

When these areas are squeezed and stimulated they will often generate a surge of intense sensations that feel uncomfortable and make the mind wish to stop.

The Wake-up Boost

But just as the pressure points in the body that feel the most tender sometimes actually require the most pressure and attention, often these areas that feel like they are telling us to stop are requiring a bear hug wake-up boost.

A surge of energy to break up the sleeping density.

This doesn’t mean to push into pain that is not good, but to build the skill of conscious moment to moment deciphering of the threshold being tasted. In order to hold oneself in the tension of expansion versus dissolve.

It’s interesting to notice the moment the mind says it wants out of a pose, or any situation life presents – and to decide to stay for one breath longer than wanted. Just one breath.

Slowly slowly working through each layer, until every single flickering bulb goes back online and the deepest lessons from all those strange, uncomfortable, interesting places get absorbed.

Going Offline

I see that by practicing yoga there is a great potential to recalibrate all seen and unseen systems of this human house back into optimal harmony, and therefore optimal communication. Not just within the individual body, but extending out, syncing the individual in tune with all of nature.

Because the body is always communicating. Through sensation, through tension, through the places we consciously and unconsciously avoid dipping into.

But first we have to find the bulbs that have gone offline. And screw them back in.

Remembering

To share what is coming through me when I practice is a challenge. It’s hard to encapsulate our most potent experiences into words that can be consumed and digested by the logic parts of us.

When words carry a transmission, the whole idea one is intending to share can fully be received and absorbed. The transmission is more powerful than the words.

We all give off a transmission. It contains our whole existence, our entire journey and therefore all of the lessons learned and wisdom integrated.

What blocks this is the many manifestations of the fear contraction. The forgetting to remember who we are and why we came here.

There is pressure we put on ourselves and this pressure melts us down and can harden our ability to access the spaces of possibility. The pressure can be released by posing the questions without the need for an answer. Just a curiosity. A genuine heart’s wondering.

Whatever challenges are being experienced at this moment –  let yourself dissolve the questions inward. Then listen like you listen to someone you respect in the highest, with open naked perceptions into your wide open spaces.

Remember how far you have come. All the lessons. All the wisdom you have absorbed, you hold. It’s all sprouting and wants to gush and give and express.

Let it be baby steps in every direction.

Taste Everything

Yoga has taught me to suck the marrow from the universe and to relish the richness of this human experience.

To taste everything. The rich, the luscious, especially the bittersweet.

Life is delicious. And that’s how yoga should be too.

Love you,

Meghan
